Jermyn Street, London

While exploring London’s West End, we took a walk down Jermyn Street in St James’s. The street was developed in 1664 by Henry Jermyn, the 1st Earl of St Albans, and today is a high end collection of chic stores and galleries.

Sienna wanted to see a filming spot at number 36 for the song Nice to Meet Ya by Niall Horan, of One Direction fame. She was pleased to find it and have her photo taken out the front (first photo).

Sir Isaac Newton lived just a couple of doors further along – first at number 88 from 1696-1700, then at number 87 from 1700-1709. Unfortunately we didn’t realise this at the time, but I’ve included a stock photo of the blue plaque (photo 3). It wasn’t actually the same building that is here today, but it’s pretty amazing to think that someone who had such a great influence on the world walked this very street daily.

We also spotted an inactive Christmas light on the corner of Jermyn and Regent Streets which is part of the annual display (last two photos). See more on this in my Regent Street post.
