Storm Amy

After days of weather warnings, we began to feel the impacts of Storm Amy on our drive up to Glasgow on Thursday 2 October. We ended up saturated multiple times while we were out and about on the Friday and Saturday, and we also drove through flood waters and were diverted a few times due to road closures. We were glad to be tucked up safe in our accommodation in Stirling before the worst of the gale force winds hit on Friday night.

We had initially planned to drive up to Loch Ness, Inverness and Dornoch in Scotland's north for two nights, but decided to play it safe by staying in Stirling and Linlithgow in southern Scotland instead. Although the storm's impact was worse in the north, as you can see from the video below, the warnings applied to the whole of Scotland and northern England. We did manage a day trip up to Dornoch in Scotland's north-east on the Sunday.
