Opéra Garnier, Paris (Ballerina movie)

Both girls were keen to see the Opéra Garnier in Paris as it featured in the 2016 movie Ballerina - see trailer here.

Set in 1879 in Paris, the movie is the story of Felice, an orphan who desperately wants to become a ballerina. She escapes from the orphanage and finds herself at the Opéra Garnier where she eventually fulfills her dream.

The theatre, which is just as stunning in real life, was commissioned by Napoleon in 1860, and opened in 1875. It is still a popular venue for theatre and ballet performances, and even in the early evening on a Monday there were plenty of people waiting to go in.
