Nottingham Castle

There has been a castle on Castle Rock overlooking Nottingham since 1067.

The original castle was a wooden structure built by William the Conqueror. After being destroyed and rebuilt multiple times due to the English Civil War and various other attacks, the current 1870s reincarnation now serves as an art gallery and museum. The gates and parts of the ramparts are all that remain of the original castle.

Nottingham Castle is also a site of the legend of Robin Hood and his Merry Men
