The railway station was one of the stops in our walking tour around Holmes Chapel, the village where Harry Styles grew up.
We arrived just as the station master Graham was locking up to head out for his lunch break. He was kind enough to reopen the station room for us to see the Harry Styles exhibition inside.
As a long-time friend of Harry’s, Graham took the time to tell us stories about Harry growing up in the area and showed us lots of childhood photos. He gave us a walking tour map and some great tips on places to visit around the village that Harry used to frequent, including his childhood home!
Sienna was able to write a message in a book that Harry’s dad collects each month to give to Harry personally. I thought this was a lovely way for fans to feel a real connection with their idol.
There was also a range of Harry gifts and souvenirs which were created by the school Harry went to, as well as other local groups that wanted to show their support for their beloved celebrity. The money we spent on these went directly back into their projects.
Graham told us that Harry regularly travelled on the train especially early in his career, and even showed us where he often sat (photo 3). It was easy to picture him waiting at the station, probably having no idea of just how big a star he would become.
Going to a concert is one thing – but this experience was the next level for any fan. We were very grateful to Graham for his willingness to spend time with us one-on-one sharing stories and memories with us, and to paint such a personal picture of Harry’s personality and life. It really did feel like being just one step away from meeting Harry in-person.
