Ride on the London Underground (the Tube)

The Underground, also known as the Tube, has been a god-send for getting around London quickly and economically. The train system has been easy to get used to as it is similar to Melbourne and Sydney's metro networks, just bigger with more people and lots of cool old stations!

I found this clever video of a 1928 cutaway image of the Piccadilly Underground Station when writing about our visit to Piccadilly Circus later in our trip. It is mindboggling to think how much activity goes on just metres beneath the surface.

The Underground sign in the first photo above is at the Holland Park Underground Station. In the book version of Bridget Jones's Diaries (one of my favourite series), both Bridget Jones and Mark Darcy live in this suburb.

The above stations are, in order:

  • Holland Park Station
  • Westminster Station
  • Paddington Station (twice)
  • Piccadilly Circus Station
  • King's Cross Station
  • Victoria Station
  • Heathrow Station
