Buckingham Palace, London

On our way to our tour of the Buckingham Palace we were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the Changing of the Guard.

We took a self-guided audio tour of the palace State Rooms which was very interesting and informative, visiting various ball rooms, art and sculpture collections, grand staircases and so many ornate gold leaf ceilings!

Construction of the palace began in 1703 as a townhouse for the Duke of Buckingham, and it was acquired by King George III for Queen Charlotte in 1761. It has had several additions and updates since this time.

We were unable to take photos inside, but took a few outside - as you can see it was very busy being a Sunday. We assumed that the American flags along the mall are due to Donald Trump's recent visit to England.

We also walked along the Princess Diana Memorial Walk in St James' Park at the front of the palace and again saw many squirrels - Sienna took this great photo with her new camera, you can even see his whiskers!
