On our way to our tour of the Buckingham Palace we were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the Changing of the Guard, but we weren't able to stop and watch as we had timed tickets for our tour. Definitely one for next time.
We took a self-guided audio tour of the palace State Rooms which was very interesting and informative, visiting various ball rooms, art and sculpture collections, grand staircases and so many ornate gold leaf ceilings!
Construction of the palace began in 1703 as a townhouse for the Duke of Buckingham, and it was acquired by King George III for Queen Charlotte in 1761. It has had several additions and updates since this time.
As you can see it was very busy out the front of the palace, especially being a Sunday. We assumed that the American flags along the Mall at the front of the palace were due to Donald Trump's recent visit to England.
Although we were unable to take photos inside the palace, the eighth last photo through to the second last photo are from the back of the palace, including the gardens.
The last two photos are the Princess Diana Memorial Walk in St James' Park near the Mall, and Sienna took a great photo of a squirrel with her new camera, you can even see his whiskers!
